Victoria Beckham Celebrity Style Dress- Pink & Black Scalloped Dress

Pink & Black Scalloped Victoria Beckham Style Dress Back In Stock

Victoria Beckham has been a busy lady recently!  When she’s not dashing around in her skyscraper heels with baby Harper on her arm, or hitting the town with BFF’s Eva Longoria and Kate Beckinsale, she’s busy designing her various collections and showing them at London fashion week. In fact, Victoria has made such a big name for herself in the world of fashion that she recently won the award for ‘Designer Brand Of The Year’ at the British Fashion awards.

Her new line ‘Victoria’, debuted at Harvey Nics this season, and amongst the fabulous outfits, a stand-out ‘It’ dress emerged which has now been seen on many celebrity fashionistas including Olivia Palermo, Celine Buckens and Michelle Williams. Since it went on sale at Harvey Nichols, this £595 dress has become the ultimate must-have dress and it has a very long waiting-list!

The “scalloped neck with drop waist” dress as it is known comes in pink, blue or monochrome.  Olivia Palermo was seen in the blue version, choosing to accessorise it with her Armani jacket and a pair of sheer black tights and Michelle Williams has been seen in the black and white version of the dress, which she wore to the BAFTA Los Angeles 18th Annual Awards Season Tea Party recently.

Never one to shy away from self promotion, Victoria wore the pink version herself during a shopping trip to the Balenciaga store in New York, and Celine Buckens made an appearance in the same dress at the premiere of her film ‘War Horse’ in January.

If you love the dress but don’t like the sound of the hefty price tag or just can’t be bothered to join the long waiting list, we have a very similar replica of the pink dress available now at Pinksquid Clothing for a rather reasonable £37.99.

Next up was the adorable Celine Buckens who attended the London premiere of her latest movie, ‘War Horse’, wearing the same dress with Laurence Coste statement jewels, equally bedazzling peep-toes and a black clutch.

As the pink-and-black version had two run-outs, Michelle Williams decided upon the white-and-black version whilst attending the BAFTA Los Angeles 19th Annual Awards Season Tea Party in Beverly Hills last month. The pixie-haired actress decided to veto any jewellery and go for a more simplistic look by accessorizing with a plain black box clutch with matching black pumps.

TOWIE Girls Hit The Town In Animal Print

Leopard Print Dress- Fashion Trend Alert 2011

If you do a lot of shopping, read a lot of fashion magazines or just have eyes, you’ll probably have noticed that there’s a whole lot of animal print goin’ on this winter. Lots of celebs have been wearing leopard, zebra or tiger print, and as usual the trend is best approached with caution lest you end up looking like a middle-aged barmaid in a northern soap opera.

Our favourite TOWIE girls have been seen hitting the town this week in different variations of animal print and despite their usual abundance of fake tan and false lashes, they’ve managed to pull the look off without looking tacky.

Maria Fowler and were pictured leaving the Sanctum Soho Hotel Bar this week in animal print, with Maria nailing two of this season’s trends in a tiger print skater style dress with belt, whilst Lauren added a leopard print top to her leather skirt.

Former Towie star was spotted in a grey long sleeved leopard print number this week and illustrated how animal print can easily be worn during the day as well as night. Toning the print down with black tights and boots is a great way to go for a more chic, less wild look

Chloe Sims also looked fierce this week, wearing a cute one shoulder style leopard print dress at the Captain Morgan’s spiced beach party.

MTV Video Music Awards Fashion 2011

Katy Perry Leads The Fashion Pack At The 2011 MTV VMA’s!

The 28th Annual MTV Video Music Awards were held at the Nokia Theatre in LA on Sunday, and as usual the fashion moments proved just as entertaining as the performances.

With Beyoncé showing off her baby bump for the first time, dressing as greasy boy alter-ego Joe Calderone, and adorning a surgical mask and fuzzy slippers it was hard to decide which diva managed to steal the show. In the end we decided Katy Perry deserved to be crowned fashion queen of the evening simply because of the sheer quantity of wacktacular outfits she worked in one night.

Katy Perry began by walking the red carpet in a geisha-style Atelier Versace mini dress that featured cherry blossoms, neon trimming, twinkling crystals and sexy cut-out detailing. The ‘Firework’ singer teamed her exquisite dress with a pair of neon pink strappy sandals by Jimmy Choo and wore Lorraine
Schwartz jewellery. She accessorized her newly dyed pink hair with pink flowers, and finished the look with a pretty parasol.

Then, like the colourful chameleon she is, Mrs Brand switched into a mouthwatering confection from Christian Dior’s A/W’11 couture collection to collect her Best Video award. Reminding us of something yummy from a box of Liquorice Allsorts she wore a pink jacket with mint green lining and an oversized yellow button,  a black and white printed tulip skirt, multi-coloured Giuseppe Zanotti wedges and finished the look with a cheese-like square hat by Stephen Jones! Deliciously fabulous!

Our other fave outfit of Katy’s was her custom-made dress by Johnny Wujek for Furne One. The glittery dress was decorated with broken records and one record was even perched on her head! A bit of an obvious statement (she’s just broken the record for being the only living artist – and only the second in history – to achieve five No.1 singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 from the same album) but we loved it all the same. Katy paired her fab dress with ankle strap Giuseppe Zanotti heels.

Beyoncé Shows Off Her Baby Bump!

Beyoncé stole the show by announcing her pregnancy and rose above the outlandishly dressed video vixens by wearing a classic orange Lanvin one-shoulder silk crepe cut-away gown and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. She paired her cut-away gown with ivory Swarovski platform heels with pearl details by Rene Caovilla. Positively beaming, whilst clutching her new baby bump, Beyoncé looked beautiful, relaxed and happy.

The Best Of The Rest… The Little Black Dress!

The LBD was definitely the popular choice of the night with Jessie J, and Zoe Saldana all channeling the look.

Jessie-J-MTV-Awards-2011

Adele-Little-Black-Dress-MTV

One of our favourite looks of the night however, came from Selena Gomez who wore an elegant, black Julien MacDonald dress,  Judith Leiber clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. Showing off her pins, wearing slightly gothic make-up and wearing her hair back in a low bun she manages to keep this look young.

Britney Spears also went back to black and turned up grinning widely before being honoured with the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award. For the big night Britney wore a black sequined romper and belt by Moschino with a zig-zagging print. The singer teamed her romper with Gina peep-toe calf boots. We’re not too sure we like the shoes on Britney (they make her legs look a little stumpy), but her hair and make-up look flawless, and she looks healthy and happy which is lovely to see after years of troubles.

Another songstress who opted for a LBD and made our best-dressed list was judge Kelly Rowland who wowed in a Falguni & Shane peacock dress teamed with Louboutin heels and matching clutch. We think the former Destiny’s child singer looked absolutely show-stopping!

And The Most Bizarre Outfit Goes To……

Well really it should be who not only dressed as a boy but completely inhabited the maleness of her persona the entire evening, but as she was technically a man for the night we’re voting for who is fast becoming one of the most kooky red carpet characters we’ve seen. Her confusing -but-amusing outfit is hard to describe, but aside from looking like she’s raided a cuddly toy factory, she’s wearing a Shojono Tomo mask, an ice-cream necklace, a pointy mirrored thingy, a pink tutu, tights, socks, and candy-floss hair! We think maybe she went to a costume shop and just couldn’t decide what to wear?

The Dress Factor! Tulisa and Kelly Go Head-To-Head In The Fashion Stakes At X Factor Launch!

Screening- Whose Look Did You Prefer?

As we’ve seen in previous years, the has become just as much about the dresses as it is the music, so it’s great to see Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland have both upped their fashion game for the launch today at London’s O2.

They both sashayed into the venue looking ultra chic & glam and they couldn’t seem to stop hugging each other either- maybe trying to prove there isn’t any rivalry between them (yet!).

Tulisa wore a cleavage-enhancing Vivienne Westwood LBD and had her hair styled into a cascade of Hollywood-glam curls, whilst Kelly wore a black Versace dress with a bright green wave detail on it which really made the dress pop.

Although we think both girls looked fabulous, we have to say we preferred Kelly’s look. She accessorized so much better with the Giuseppe Zanotti ankle boots  and statement cuff, whereas Tulissa’s outfit looked a little bit sensible with her Mary-Jane shoes. We’re not too sure about the blonde streak at the front of her hair either (it actually reminds us of Danni Minogue circa 1995), although we think maybe she’s trying to make sure she doesn’t look too much like Cheryl Cole (the comparisons must be getting a bit tedious).

Although we’ll miss Danni and Cheryl, it’s great to have some fresh talent on the show and we can’t wait to see which one will win the frock-off next week when it begins!

Grazia Magazine Admit To Slimming Down Kate Middleton

Grazia admits to Photoshopping Kate Middleton’s waistline

When it was reported a few months ago that weekly fashion magazine Grazia had doctored a picture of Kate Middleton on the cover of their May 9th Royal wedding issue, the publication was quick to refute the allegations, firmly stating “Grazia did not make any changes to the image of the Duchess of Cambridge to make her look or appear slimmer than she is”.

However, as a result of the complaints made by readers of the UK issue, Britain’s Press Complaints Commission investigated further (presumably just by looking at the picture!) and discovered that indeed, Kate’s already slim waist was slimmed still further.

So why did they do this? The tiny princess clearly did not need any retouching (as two billion global viewers can attest).

According to Grazia, it was because they wanted a shot of Kate in her Alexander McQueen wedding dress on her own. Unfortunately, according to Grazia, “all the photographs had the duke in too”.

As a consequence of that, they asked the reproduction house to remove him from the picture, but as this would have left the Duchess with only one arm, they replaced the right arm with a mirror image of the left one, inadvertently giving the duchess a tummy tuck in the process.

Knuckles rapped, Grazia released a statement saying they “would like to reassure all our readers that we did not purposely make any alterations to the Duchess of Cambridge’s image to make her appear slimmer, and we are sorry if this process gave that impression”.

Mmmmmmmm, now whilst they may not have intentionally slimmed the duchess down, this is exactly what the picture did. Not only is the picture dishonest, it seems a really stupid thing to do when Kate and her younger sister Pippa Middleton have both become the focus of some websites which promote anorexia or bulimia and call them both a ‘thinspiration’.

The overly (and obviously) Photoshopped image also looks very odd- surely it would have been a lot less weird to simply include the prince in the image (and lets be honest Kate was only on the front cover because of him).

Grazia’s claim that the Photoshop process ‘inadvertently made the princess slimmer’ also seem rather dubious when one compares the UK cover with the Australian cover. It’s clear the same Frankenstein-style alterations were made to the picture, however the Australian cover hasn’t surgically removed any of her ribs.

Coming from a publication that has run articles with headlines like ‘Should airbrushed images come with a health warning’ and ‘Finally Debenhams ditch the airbrushing!’, blaming the picture on shoddy Photoshop work just isn’t on.

Frankie Sandford Dress

Frankie Sandford’s Style

Sexy Skater Dress

Frankie Sandford from The Saturday’s is definitely turning into a bit of  a fashion icon. Known for her quirky & edgy style, she always has her finger firmly on the fashion pulse. What we adore about Frankie though is that she loves a bit of high street style. In fact, she’s very often seen in affordable pieces even though she’s probably loaded. Frankie goes to show you don’t have to spend a fortune on fashion & always looks a million dollars in whatever she wears.

Here at Pinksquid Clothing we have a dress just like the one seen on Frankie recently- and following on from our recent trend-alert blog post- we’ve sourced the dress in summer’s favourite colour- coral!

Billboard Music Awards Fashion 2011

Best & Worst Dressed At The Billboard Music Awards 2011

Cannes has only just wrapped, but another star-studded event has already eclipsed it in terms of the fashion! The Billboard Music Awards took over Vegas yesterday, and both music and fashion were at the forefront as celebs took to the WHITE carpet.

Among the styled arrivals we spotted Kylie in a fab Alexander McQueen frock, Rihanna suited up in white-on-white Max Azria menswear, and Selena Gomez in a cut-out, black Dolce & Gabbana dress paired with red Giuseppe Zanotti heels. Taylor Swift channelled old-style Hollywood glamour in a strapless, sparkling Elie Saab gown and Kelly Rowland rocked a Herve Leger bubblegum pink bandage dress with ease.

Like most music award shows, this one brought a slew of head turning looks. continued her reign of mad hair/style combos with a Mark Fast studded bodysuit, Versace cut-out heels and a wig made made out of pink party streamers! Ok so it’s not an outfit you’d wear to pop to the shops in (or wear anywhere for that matter), but she certainly owns the look. If we had a bottom like that we’d be showing it off too- Pippa who???

Other madcap outfits included Fergie’s tiered leather Herve Leger dress, and Ke$ha’s  sequinned bodice, cut-out, tulle-train gown by Jad Ghanour. If we had to pick one, Ke$ha would definitely be our winner for worst dressed. The singer was looking a bit ‘Sleazy’. In fact where most of the celebs looked like they’d scrubbed up she just looked like she needed a good scrub.

Dresses with the yawn factor included Nicole Kidman’s Dries van Noten evening gown and ’s odd looking Lanvin dress. We love but this really did nothing for her fabulous curves, and maybe it was just the angle of the pictures but it looked kinda back-to-front.

What do you think?

THE BEST

Rihanna opted for a minimalist look in a white hot Max Azria suit. Her loosely curled red bob adds some colour whilst her nude Christian Louboutin shoes streamline her silhouette.

Kelly Rowland sizzled in a hot pink Herve Leger bandage dress. The dress' bright hue popped on the white carpet, while strappy champagne heels complemented Kelly's lengthy legs. Matching pink lips and sweet sideswept locks were the perfect finishing touch to this playful award show look.

Kylie in an Alexander McQueen sparkling embroidered LBD. The fit-and-flare silhouette with shoulder cut outs was given a funky edge when paired with Christian Louboutin ‘Change of the Guard’ sandals.

Taylor Swift sparkles in a blush pink strapless Elie Saab gown. Her long retro waves and scarlet lips compliment the dress beautifully. We love how the country darling always manages to look sexy & glamorous whilst oozing natural beauty.

Selena Gomez looking all grown up in our favourite look of the night. We were taken aback by the sultry Dolce & Gabbana cut-out dress with a hip-high slit and stunning sweetheart neckline. Selena added a pop of color with red stilettos.

THE WORST

in her odd-looking Lanvin dress. Perhaps she was trying to dress demurely after her outrageous stage outfit?

Nicole Kidman in a blah Dries van Noten dress. The only thing we like about this look is that she appears to be relaxed & comfortable even if the dress is rather dull.

Fergie in a tiered leather Herve Leger dress with a bondage-inspired halter neckline, black leather Christian Louboutin pumps and an Alexander McQueen skull clasp clutch. Whilst this is a cool look it just looks too young on Fergie. If Kylie can do a short black funky number without looking like mutton so can the fabulous Fergie!
