Golden Globes Fashion 2012. Best and Worst Dressed….
We love awards season here at Pinksquid Clothing, and the Golden Globes are one of our fave ceremonies as they’re a bit more fun and trendy than most of the others.
Last night the fashion at the 69th Annual Golden Globe awards did not disappoint us, and there were lots of amazing dresses, as well as some not-so-fabulous-frocks.
The clear trend of the evening was pale and interesting, with many stars opting for nudes, peaches, creams, and silver. However there were a few stars who opted for some major colour statements such as Natalie Portman channeling Marilyn Monroe in a hot pink gown, and Reese Witherspoon in a bold red Zac Posen dress.
We’ve managed to narrow down our five best and five worst outfits to the ones below…..
Best
Charlize Theron was by far the best dressed of the evening. Wearing an origami-style Christian Dior couture gown she literally stole the show. We love the dramatic plunging neckline, thigh high split and extravagant bow. The sequin hairband is super-cute as well!
We also loved Sophia Vergara in her strapless midnight blue mermaid gown which accentuated her gorgeous curves beautifully. The dress, made by Vera Wang, featured intricate pleated detail reminiscent of waves, and had a sweetheart shaped neckline.
Jessica Alba also made our best dressed list. Wearing a stunning embellished Gucci gown in a feminine shade of blush pink, she positively glowed. She rocked the look with some serious bling but pulled her hair back to keep the effect chic.
Salma Hayek looked breathtaking in a shimmering, strapless Gucci Gown. The metallic bodice set off her ample bosom, and the simple black box clutch and drop earrings keep the accessories to a minimum whilst creating maximum effect.
Last but not least is Heidi Klum looking gorgeous in her peach, custom made Calvin Klein dress. The turquoise jewellery by Lorraine Schwartz gives the dress an instant pop of colour, and her fresh make-up and simple hair look effortless.
Worst
We were really disappointed with Kate Winslet’s Jenny Packham dress. There’s nothing horrific about it but it’s so boring! It makes her look frumpy and does nothing for her fabulous figure. Kate did manage to win a Golden Globe though so it wasn’t all bad!
Actress Amanda Peet is beautiful, so we wish that we could get behind this fluffy white number that she wore to last night’s event. However, the multiple tiers of fabric remind us of a big, iced cupcake instead of a demure and pretty gown. The one-shoulder look is pretty, but we wish the dress was more fitted and less frilly- she has a tiny figure and this drowns her.
Sarah Michelle Gellar wore a bizarre blue and white Monique Lhuillier gown. We feel a little bad slating her as the dress was chosen by her two year old daughter- but a tye dyed dress on the red carpet? Seriously?
Sharon Osbourne worked an OTT floral monochrome dress with mismatched sparkly pink platform shoes. Donning your drapes on the red carpet is a definite DON’T.
Sharon wasn’t the only Osbourne to make our worst dressed list. Kelly O actually managed to look worse in an ill fitting Zac Posen blue dress with her weird blue-grey hair scraped back. Not a good look from someone who makes a living judging other celebs for their fashion choices on E’s Fashion Police!
